Good friend of mine told me he has always bought walleye fillets from Weyand's in Wyandotte on Jefferson.  They tell him that the fish come from Canada.

This year the ones he has bought from them are a lot smaller in size than in the past?????

My question is why???   I thought the rules made a few years ago increased the net size etc.

SO WHY THE SMALL ONES AGAIN???

Different year classes yield different numbers. We were told and I have read that the past 2 years are well below the 2003 hatch. We're catching many small fish here too. But remember, the Canadians have no size limits and they take everything. And the smaller fish are better to eat anyway!!!

I thought the commercial fishing people used nets.  While I was a "frist Mate" on a charter boat the laws for commercial fishing was  changed, they had to use nets with larger holes???   SO WHY ARE THEY NOW CATCHING & SELLING SMALL FISH AGAIN?

I remember the 1st year after the law change we caught a lot larger limits & less measure & throw backs???

So that was my real question.
