DWF will be holding a combination Steelhead/Walleye Tournament out of Erieau, Ontario on Sat, Aug 1, 2009.  In addition to the regular payouts, we have "challenged" the Lake St Clair Walleye Association and there will be a "challenge" trophy to the club that wins First Place.  We have simplified the rules to make this a fun event which will include food at the weigh-in  Rules are attached.

One of the reasons we are sendinding this out so early is that after June 1st, a passport, passport card, Nexus card, etc will be rquired to re enter the U.S. from Canada.  A passport card can be purchased at any post office.  It costs $50 and is valid for 10 years,

For those that haven't fished Erieau, it is a great Steelhead and walleye fishery a little over an hour by car and has a gvery nice launch and is a full service facility.  If you don't normally get a Canadian license, a one or 3  day license can be purchased right at the launch.  You can drive over just for the day or make a weekend out of it,

Right now the exchange rate is in our favor so if you exchange money at the border, it will lower costs quite a bit!  Transit slips with showers and bathrooms are available at the Erieau marina http://www.erieaumarina.com/erieaumarina.shtml (at the weigh in site) for $1.75 Canadian

Accomadations:

Rates The rates for the cottages are 98-189/night  (canadian) per depending on the type of accommodation needed.
The #10 cottage sleeps
6@189/night in separate beds; this cottage was designed for charters and golf parties.
The 98/night cottages are non smoking now, have only 2 queen beds but are not as spacious as 10 is.

[size=+0]Kitchenettes are 98/night, 2 have 2 queens , 1 has 1 queen plus futon all cottages and kitchenettes have sat tv with Detroit feeds so great weather reports.
Cottages are to be prepaid 7 days in advance, which makes it much easier
checking in.

Interested in how to fish for the Erieau tournament?

Down-riggers needed?

Planer boards used?

What type of baits, wiggle warts, crawler harnesses?

Need to know to see if we are equipped enough to compete.

Downriggers,Boards and spoons.  Pretty much the same as walleye fishing in the lake only deeper.  We will be having a workshop this summer on set up and techniques for that fishery.

I will be at that workshop also. Give plenty of notice and not before I get back from Mexico.

I was able to get July 31st and Aug. 3rd off as well and made a long weekend out of it.  Now I just have to get my Dad to come down from Oscoda and bring his boat.
