I am starting my second year of shopping for and handling the club raffles. I need ideas!!! Are you happy with the type of things that I buy? Are there other things I should be buying? Do you want more, cheaper items or fewer prizes that are wortrh more. Also, what kind of special prizes do you want for the "special Raffle"? I've been spending about $100 on the special! Ideas and opinions please.

What about fishing trips for the special raffles.  Think any of our Charter Captains would be willing ?

Very interesting idea! Let me think about that, or even from amateurs like ourselves??

Thought it might not be a bad idea since half our membership doesn't own a boat.

It's like this on all the forums now.  The only reason I'm on is because I am home with the flu.  Which is kind of dangerous.  I bought 2 Schaller reels off of E-Bay.  Gonna go look at lures now.

I've been buying tickets for the raffles but none of them have been winners for months now. I'd just like to have a winning ticket :D. Keep up the good work Jerry!!!!

Jerry, you're doing a fine job on the raffles.  Personnaly I like it just the way it is.  A decent number of quality items.  Keep up the good work.  I also think the idea for the fishing trip(s) for the big raffle is a great idea.

I know I can't catch fish, Hannah tells me all the time lol . But you have to admit I look pretty damn good trying to fish with that rod. ;)

I bet that the club members would like to see a shiny like new Schaller Handline Reel in the raffles!

I'm working on it.....just need a few more specialty tools before I can clean them up right.  I  really need to get started on this, I'm up to about 16 reels now.

Im also for the idea of a charter of some sort, also people seem to enjoy gift cards so they can pick up what they really need. Maybe a Cabela or Bass Pro card for a raffle would be pretty sweet.

I like the gift card idea. Other than that I think the way the raffle is now is fine. I didn't realize that 1/2 our members are boatless so the charter would be nice as well.

This one is already spoken for but I think we can work something out on a future reel.  I'm going to concentrate on the older ones with the red casing.  Unless of course someone makes a special request for an aluminum one.  Need some ides on how to get all the scratches out of the aluminum.  I was told to use 800 grit wet sandpaper and a lot of patience.

Not being a boat owner, I LOVE the idea of fishing charter raffles. It needn't be anything fancy. It would surely sell a lot more tickets especially to the unhorsed crowd. Bob Galvin

I did mention that at the DWF board meeting and got no reponse from the Charter captains there??? I'll ask again. I also think it would be good!
