I caught a lot of them last year on Mother's Day. I wasn't targeting them but they were on the bigger side so they were still fun to catch.

I know.....my daughter and nephew have already been bugging me too.  Last year we started to catch them around Fighting Island about Mid May, they really started to take off about a week after that.  I kept catching them until about Mid June.

I know I'll hear about this,  but last year, my neighbor was frying up a bunch of bluegill fillets and handed me a big plate over the fence.  They were delicious and we devoured them all.  He then told me they were silvers (actually White bass, no such thing as silver bass)  They weren't walleye or perch but they were pretty good.  He told me that he soaks all his fish in milk.  That taught me to forget about stereotypes and rely on my own taste.

They are just so annoying when you are out there trying to catch walleyes and instead you are catching "white" bass 3 at a time.:P

They're almost as bad as Smallmouth's.

When we first started fishing we went out on a boat from Wyandotte, Capt. Jim Brodie & we caught about 60 silver bass between 3 of us.  We cleaned them up Divided them.  That night we cooked up our batch & everyone enjoyed a fresh dinner.  My buddy eat 1/2 of his split same thing everyone enjoyed them.  A while later he cooked up what was left & they tasted "oily" and by then everyone told us of our mistakes "SILVER BASS" AREN'T GOOD EATING but.............

No one can't say they are fun for kids.

They are that.....I think my daughter and nephew got the biggest kick watching a dozen of them chase after the one they had hooked.  Makes me wonder how many are really down there when the run is on.
