just wondering if the outragious gas prices will be affecting your fishing trips this summer? i had three big trips this summer planned, one back downriver (i live in Traverse City) for a week, one planned for the AuSable river, and another back downriver.
with my boat having a 10 gallon tank and my truck has a 20 gal, im looking at a
$120 for a fill up @ $4.00/gal. i cant fathom what its like for these guys with the bigger boats/ trucks.

Gas is the expensive necessity to this hobby of fishing we all love so much. With no end in sight to the climbing prices I still have not considered fishing less often. Rather then fishing in my favorite areas around the islands every other weekend I may find myself looking for honeyholes closer to home. And when I do make those 60 to 70 round trip runs I will make sure I have 3 other people to "enjoy" the fishing and costs associated with it. Personally, I will rid of every bad habit that costs me extra money before I think about cutting into fishing time.

I agree. I'll give up all my other hobbies and expenditures before I give up my passion...oh crap, I don't have any other hobbies! I guess I'll have to find the wife a second job

being small businss owners, my wife and i are really feeling the pain at the pumps(80 to 100 miles a day)unfortunatly in the state of the economy here in southeast mi we cant afford to pass on the extra expenses to our clients-they would not retain our services! that being said i definately keep the rpms down on the merc. i have also begrudgingly purchased a dinky fuel efficient car for our daily driving , and after driving a large truck for as long as i can remember this sure does suck! the truck is now simply to pull the rig but gotta do what it takes to do what you love

You'll need to share your secrete on how you convinced your wife to get a job. If my wife had a job I would have bought a new boat instead of a new motor.

The wife has been out of the job market for a number of years other than some part time gigs while the boys were young. The boys are getting older and are more self sufficient now and she just wants to get back to work. Lucky me
