I'm planning on March 22nd. I have the whole week off until the 30th. I will have empty seats in my Ranger if anyone is interested in early fishing on the river.
Ever since I created Bottomline's WebSite for them in 2004, I have been tracking a few things from Bill’s reports when he calls them in to me. They fit well for this thread, and thought I would share them with you (this is data for Trenton channel) :
Year Date Water Temp Comment
2004 3/26 No ice flows
2004 4/9 Big ones starting to be caught
2005 4/2 ?? Clear river..no ice
2005 4/9 ?? Fishing is hot. Big ones in
2006 3/19 38 No ice. Great perch fishing
2006 4/2 40 Regular Walleye limits being caught
2007 3/21 35 River 90% clear. Excellent perchin!
2007 3/28 39-40 Big walleyes in, with regular limits
2007 4/2 43 Regular limits
The bad news is…….My boat is up north in storage until the first week in april L Anyone need a fishing partner for the last couple weeks in march? I live close enough to the river to check out the ice flow conditions daily…once we get closer to the beginning of the season.
Be sure to also checkout Bottomline’s website once we get closer to the season for a fishing report, and status of the ice conditions.
Thanks, Ed! You might also check the DWF Fishing Reports http://dwfonline.com/fishreport.htm They are archived back to 2004 Just click on the year that you want!
