I am having a problem lowering my trailer coupler onto the 2 inch ball. This just started and I cannot figure out why the ball will now not go into the ball socket. I have a shorelandr trailer with Disk Brakes. The trailer is a 2002 and carries a 18 foot boat. Any suggestions would be appreciated as to what is possibly wrong.

Thanks

Bud

The frist thing tht I think of is it rusted up?  I would use a good oil & work it a little & see if that doesn't help.  Never heard of a problem like that before.  keep us posted as what worked

Loosen up the nut on the bottom of the coupler. Get it loose so you can lift up and down while it's locked on. Then start to tighten just enough where you can lock it easliy. These things can get rusted up.

I worked on the coupler this morning.  There isn't a nut to loosen on this coupler but I really lubed the coupler and that seemed to work.  While the ball went on, it still seemed to stick just abit.  I looked over the underside of the coupler and the mechanisms and I believe you are right.   While it is not really rusted, a good bit of WD-40 and other lubes seemed to do the trick.  I plan on going out Friday and if it happens again I will post this.  Thanks for your feedback.
