Went over to the Amherstburg channel this morning and picked up a 6 fish limit pulling wire.  Started north of the 68 bouy and caught nothing but smallies.  After I talked to Sparky he suggested I try  farther downstream.  I moved down about 400 yards in 26 fow and caught my fish in less than 45 minutes with one double and I lost one as well.  Spoons in the pic caught all the fish.  Weeds were bad but manageable.

Went back over there the last couple of nights.  Went out Wednesday with Mike Barkley and we picked up 3, N wind was a real pain to deal with.  Had a hard time controlling the boat.

Went out last night with Mark Bye and we got 2 and lost 2.  This time it was the SW wind that was making a mess of things.  Water was dirty with lots of floating weeds.

Mark,

Are you handling now?    Do you handline in November as well?   Just curious since I have not pulled wire in late October or November.

Every chance I get.

I was out last night with Barkley and we each got one.  Both nice fish though, each in the 20+ inch range and about 3 or 4 pounds.  I'll keep handlining until the ramps freeze and I can't launch the boat.  Things should start picking up again once the water temp drops down some more.  Still needs to get down about 10 degrees.
