My buddy & I launched out of the Ecorse launch this morning & fished in front of US Steel from 7:00AM until 12:30. I had my limit at 8:30, while my buddy struggled. He was missing/losing a lot of fish. I thought he was doing something wrong but once I had lost my last 1/2oz green jig & only had 3/4oz jigs to use I started missing fish as well. I think they were quick to spit the heavier jigs. We caught at least 20 smallmouth & a dozen white bass & a rockbass. It was nice to see the smallmouth spitting up a lot of gobies. The fishing slowed around 10:00AM but my buddy did boat a walleye at noon.

I caught all of my fish on either a 1/2oz or 3/4oz green jig with a smelt Fin-S. The 1/2oz green jig & smelt Fin-S has been the hot bait for me the last 4 times out. My buddy used various colors & baits. The walleyes (18 to 23 inches) were caught in the 25 to 40 fow range & most smallies came in 35 to 40 fow & the whitebass in less than 35 fow.
