It's been several weeks now and there are only 22 posts? I have to believe fishermen, especially DWF members like to tell fish stories? I'll start:
Who makes their own tackle? Lets see some pictures of your home made jigs, spoons, ect...

I make my own harnesses, stingers, jigs, and of course fishing rods!!! It's gonna take some time but I count 108 posts. Granted, a lot are test type posts but it's kind of like a catch 22 thing!

i love making my own harnesses. it helps pass the time in winter. just getting into powder coating jigs and am thinking about buying a melting pot and some molds, and just recently i started tying bucktail to jig heads (boy that will teach you some patients)
does anybody recomend anything other than "jig paint" to paint jig heads, blades etc? i am looking for an alternative, like maybe somthing off the shelf at the hadware store or something.

I fell in love with the "fluid bed" method of powder coating at last years Novi show!! Quick, easy, perfect coatings everytime.
Here is the site for the "fluid beds" http://www.tjstackle.com/ click on Powder Paint on the left and there are some great video instructions. Just want to point out that I have NO connection to this company other than the fact that they had their booth next to the DWF booth at the last two Novi Fishing shows and quite a few members now have the fluid beds and love them.

i tye my own harnesses. after a few years fo doing so, i've learned to only tye up 20 or so and not 60+. i end up tying most on the water after the fish let me know what they want. i pwderpaint the jigs i use.. i have jim "downriver tackle" custom paint my blades, spoons, baits.
as far as the fluid bed pots, there are some really cheap ways to make your own. i believe there is a link on walleyecentral's message board on what it takes.

I powder cote my old jigs but the freshly poured I leave nice and shiny and use them as is. I keep them sealed up to keep them from losing their shine. I also put the sticker eyes on them as well. This is more for my Dad than me, he swears by them and has been using them for the last 10 years or so.
