Thinking about finally making the change. My understanding is that one is braided and the other is not. What is the best to use, and how is the line rated? Is 6lb Fire Line the same strength as 6lb mono? I've read where some use use 6lb braided line with a short leader of 6lb mono? Been jigging 10lb Trilene for couple of years.
Fire line is fused, I believe power pro is braided. 6 lb fire line has the same strength as 6 lb mono but the diameter is more like 1 or 2 lb mono. That can help to maintain a verticle presentation while jigging. Another benefit is fire line has no stretch so it's more sensative than mono. I swear I can feel a fish fart if it's near my line As far as using a mono leader some believe it helps with being more stealthy in clear water. In stained water I don't think there is a difference. I know some guys that use power pro but I don't know enough to comment on it.
